The fact that Transistor Sound & Lighting Co. weren’t the biggest band to ever come out of Winnipeg should be final proof that there is no god. Comprised of Jay Churko and Dino D’Ottavio (with Marty Kinack as their George Martin and additional support from Marcia Fifer and Alfie Catalico), TS &L wrote skewed pop gems covered in a thin grime of phased and feed backing guitars, over processed drums, keyboard nonsense and an unmatched melodic sensibility.

Their live show was an unforgettable experience, constantly re-inventing their songs with instrument changes, effects pedals pushed to the edge of their capabilities and a constant and exuberant search for the perfect musical moment. They released one criminally overlooked album (Self-Titled, 1998) to little fanfare and seemingly less promotion, collecting 16 of the best songs you’ve never heard in one convenient package that you can still find at Music Trader. This version of Sasparilla is our way of paying tribute to the Band That Should Have Been.
